(searchable from Intellectual Property of Singapore) Marcus has designed and implemented security & surveillance systems of various scales for MNCs, SMEs, landed properties & condominiums for his clients. Marcus has also acted as a technical consultant specialising in surveillance & security technology in various high profile projects such as The Singapore Flyer and Marina Business Financial Centre. Prior to founding EurekaPlus, Marcus was a Senior Technical Manager in the Siemens ICM Networks R&D group in Singapore. He led teams developing telecoms software for 3G infrastructure network entities. Marcus has worked as a Technology Manager in the Wireless Internet Centre (WIC), Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Asia Pacific. He was responsible for the technical direction within WIC and he led a team of technical consultants working on projects related to mobile services such as mobile portal, wired and mobile portal integration, m-commerce, location based services, smart agents and billing for wireless services. Prior to joining Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, he was a Program Director, spear-heading the Broadband and Piconet activities in the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC, part of Institute for Infocomm Research now), a national funded R&D centre. In CWC, Marcus led projects such as Delphipad, which was a collaboration project between CWC and Ericsson Cyberlab Singapore to build a wireless pad running Linux, one of the first few in the world. He has also led teams in European ACTS consortium projects such as OnTheMove (mobile middleware) and Cameleon (mobile agents); involving multi-national MNC partners like Sony, Ericsson, British Telecom, Deutsch Telecom, IBM. In his earlier years with CWC, he was also involved in building wireless PBX systems and handsets based on the DECT standard, and designing Windows drivers for Mobitex modems. Marcus is familiar with the various wireless protocols such as 3G, GSM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. He is proficient in hardware and electronics design, having started his career as a hardware design engineer. Marcus has in-depth hands-on experience in SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), object oriented analysis and design using UML (Unified Modeling Language), embedded system programming (Philips C51 and Atmel AVR processors), RTOS (NutOS and VxWorks), communication protocols (I2C, SPI, Modbus, RS232/422/485), Microsoft Visual Basic .net, PHP, Perl and Javascript for Web programming. Marcus has vast experience on project management, people development, consulting services, technical system design, implementation and execution of surveillance and security systems, wireless and Internet projects. Marcus received his Bachelor and the Master of Engineering degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He had won several accolades during his undergraduate days, including the Ngee Ann Kong-Xi undergraduate scholarship and innovation award for his final-year project. During his army days, he had also won the 2nd best trainee awards, both in the Basic Military Training and Signal Vocation Course.
Marcus was one of the pioneer batch of Special Assistant Plan (SAP) students, selected for being in the top 8% academically in his cohort. Besides studies, he also excelled in Extra-Curriculum Activities as a Scout Patrol Leader by representing Singapore in the World Scout Jamboree in 1982.
