Does the GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold record video or still pictures?
Internally, the GeniusGaurd™
VVR-Gold stores the captured video as individual frames. The PC windows
software playback these frames like video, which you can fast
forward/back, pause, skip one frame, or start from any frame you want.
All frames come with a date / time stamp.
Where is the camera being installed?
Each set of the IR camera & the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold recorder can secure one side of your car.
Depending on the sides of the car that you want to monitor (left, right,
front or back), we will help you install the mini IR camera(s) at the
strategic locations inside the car. No drilling is required.
How many cameras do I need?
You can install up to a maximum of 2 sets of
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold systems to ensure
that any 2 sides of your vehicle are covered. We do not recommend
installing more than 2 sets of
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold systems because all such systems draw power from you car
battery.
If you do not drive your car daily, or if your car
battery is not in good working condition (typically car battery should
be changed every 18 months or so), there is a chance that your car
battery will go flat if you install more than the recommended 2 sets.
We do not want that to happen to our clients.
What angles can I cover
with only 1 or 2 cameras?
The figures below show some possible combinations for 1 or 2
cameras installation.
To increase the chance of
catching the vendor, you can park your car with one side near to the
wall. If you normally park your car back in first into the parking
lot at a multi-storey car park, the chance of the vandal approaching
your car from the rear is unlikely since there are likely other adjacent
vehicles which will be in the way.
Any way to increase the camera viewing angle so
that I can see more?
The
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold system by default comes with a
wide angle lens with viewing angle of ~100º.
How do I use the system to guard against car
vandalism?
- Before leaving your car, just arm the system by pressing the "Arm"
button on the remote control.
- Whenever there are significant changes in the successive frames of the
video captured, the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold system will start
recording the video until no
more change is detected.
- The intruder will not notice since
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold uses a mini IR camera without
any flash.
- Up to 100,000 video frames can be stored in a
1GB SD card, or 200,000 frames with a 2GB SD card.
- If there is nothing wrong with your car (ie. not vandalised), there is
nothing for you to do. Alternatively, you can press the pin code & "Disarm"
button on the remote control to disarm the system before driving off.
How do I use the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold
to track where my vehicle has been to?
- The system can be configured so that it is automatically armed once
the memory card is inserted. Alternatively, just arm the system by pressing the "Arm"
button on the remote control.
- Whenever the car is moving or the outside scenery changes, the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold system will start
recording the video.
- To check where the vehicle has been to & how long each leg of the
journey took, just take out the memory card & playback the video on the PC
or Pocket PC PDA / hand phone.
How long can the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold
system record video before memory is full?
The
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold can use up to the maximum of 2GB SD card. This translates to
200,000 video frames.
Assuming the recording rate is set to 1fps (ie.
1 picture every second) and 20% of the time movement is detected (ie. it
is recording), the GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold can monitor up to 5 days for a 1GB card or 10 days for a
2GB card. This duration can be extended if a slower
recording frame rate is set or the activity rate is lesser (eg. if you
park at a secluded place).
What happened when the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold memory card is full?
The
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold system can be programmed to stop recording when memory is full, or it
can be programmed to overwrite the oldest data when memory is full.
Alternatively, you can
purchase additional memory cards if you want to keep a record
of past video.
What should I do if I find that my car is being vandalised?
- If you find that your car is being vandalised, key in the pin code & press the "Disarm" button
immediately to stop the video recording. This is to prevent
stored video of vandal caught in the act from being overwritten.
- Remove the memory card and bring it to your PC
- Plug the memory card into the USB card reader. Run the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold
player software to view the recorded video
- You can export any video segment (eg. vandal caught in the act) into
AVI file format so that it can be easily played back by windows media
player, or you can also export any single video frame that you want to a
single picture in bmp or
jpeg format.
The vandal is caught in the act by the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold.
What do I do now?
If evidence of vandalism is captured in the memory card, export the
video segment to AVI format & pass it to the police as evidence.
AVI format can be easily played back by any Windows PC.
You may also want to keep that memory card as evidence & purchase another new
memory card from EurekaPlus.
Is it worth installing
the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold to catch the vandal?
Each time you re-spray your car probably will cost you US$500 or
more. Adding to this is the inconvenience of not being able to use
your car while it is still in the workshop.
The worst of all, the
vandal is still at large and he can easily strike again, AFTER YOUR CAR
IS RE-SPRAYED !!
You can avoid all these headaches & worries by
installing the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold system.
This system is basically FREE to you if you
can claim the price of the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold, plus the cost of the damages to the car, plus loss of use
of the car, against the vandal. Consult your lawyer on this.
How long will it take for the
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold installation?
The installation of 1 set of
GeniusGuard™
VVR-Gold vehicle video recording system takes about 1 hour.
Prior reservation has to be made for installation appointment.
